Bourbon Wood: Barrel Aged Old Ale

Bourbon Wood is a traditional Old Ale, a blended barrel-aged beer with rich bourbon, dark fruit and subtle oak flavour notes.  A rich body, slightly tart mouthfeel and smooth finish makes this an amazing after dinner beer. At 11% it is a good friend that will help solve all the world’s problems.

Old Ales are a traditional English beer sometimes called stock ales, that traces its origins to before the use of hops, sometimes called “strong” or “keeping” ales. These were strong, malty beers that were left to mature in barrels, which smoothed out the flavours and provided a long secondary fermentation.

As they aged Old Ales developed a smooth, rich character similar to port wine. Our version is blend of 5, 4 and 2 year old barrels, include a bourbon barrel aged beer which adds dark spice notes to the rich malt flavours and fruity finish.
