Co-Op Saison is a Belgian farmhouse ale that honours the heritage of our cellar by using local ingredients from the farm. Our brewery is built within the old cellar walls of the Drakenstein Winery Co-Op, built in 1906.

It is brewed with Chardonnay grapes from the farm, Franschhoek Lavender & lemon peel, blue sage from our garden and barley we malted in the old wine cellar. It was fermented with Belgian saison yeasts and native wild yeast.

It has a bright, rustic flavour of flowers, fruit and herbs, that meld into a texture of zesty lemon peel and citrus, spicy sage. The Belgian yeast does an incredible job complimenting the diverse flavours, contributing its own fruit and spice character while the grapes support with apple and pineapple flavours. The finish is very dry, refreshing the palate and inviting you back for another sip.

This is a very unique Belgian-style beer that represents the history of fermentation in the brewery and the unique character of our local ingredients.
