Old London Porter – Historical Brett Ale

R89.00

340ml bottle. 10% abv and 110 ibus.

This year’s batch of Super Power is extraordinarily hoppy and one of the hoppiest beers in SA. The time, hop quantity and difficulty make this beer cost a fortune but it soo worth it.

Super Power is unlike any other beer we brew, it’s loaded with hops in every stage of the brewing process, then triple dry hopped with Citra, Centennial, Amarillo, Simcoe and Mosaic. This onslaught of hops gives it a powerful hop intensity unlike any other beer we brew. The result is an ocean of candy-orange and peach that saturates your senses, an aroma bursting with juicy hop nectar, and a resiny, brisk and bright hop bitterness in the finish.

Old London Porter – Historical Dark Brett Ale   10% abv   52 ibus

London was once the brewing capital of the world, and Porter was king. Named after porters who worked London’s streets, it was the most popular beer in the world and the first style of beer to travel the globe.

Old London Porter is a recreation of this legendary beer. The historical recipe is based on how the beer was brewed in the 1800’s, with a special blend of roasted, kilned, dark caramel and slightly smoked malts, representing historical malting methods.

It was aged in an oak barrel with the wild yeast Brettanomyces or “British yeast”. This long secondary fermentation ripens the flavour, adding a leather dryness and overripe cherry fruitiness that balances the chocolate & cocoa malt flavours. Pulling it all together is a roastiness with a touch of hidden smoke, yielding a refined drinking experience. The result is an exceptional, wine-like dark fruit character melded into the chocolate and roasty malt notes.
